Have Questions about Writing or Publishing?

Every day the staff of Indies Unlimited shares with you from its vast reservoir of experience — or we at least try to write something entertaining. But maybe you have a burning question or a topic you would like to see addressed.

To make sure we meet your needs, scratch where it itches, bark up the right tree and all that other stuff, we sometimes put up posts like these, encouraging you to either post your questions in the comment section below or send them in through our contact form.

If we can’t point you to an article in our database that addresses your question we will shop it to our staff. When the column appears, we”ll credit you with giving us the idea for the column. (Unless you’d prefer to remain anonymous.) Continue reading “Have Questions about Writing or Publishing?”

You Tell Us…

The talented and underfed staff at Indies Unlimited cuts a wide swath through subjects of interest to our readers, but that doesn’t mean we have covered every topic imaginable or of interest to you.

Sure, we could continue to use our amazing mental powers to divine your areas of interest; or we could just ask you what you’d like to see addressed. That’s the whole point of our reader request feature, You Asked For It.

What’s on your mind? What issues, areas, controversies, tutorials, surveys would you like to see IU undertake? Our staff will divvy up the requests and hand-craft posts to tackle the questions asked.

Last time around, we got questions from IU readers Renee Pierce Williams, Elina Castro, Melody Stiles, J. Johnson Higgins, and Matt Valenti. Our staff divvied up the requests and wrote posts to tackle the questions asked.

So we are asking again. What’s on your mind? What issues, areas, controversies, tutorials, surveys would you like to see IU undertake?

Our own K. S. Brooks recently discussed the importance of social media in platform building, and you can read Kat’s article here. There are, however, many additional pieces to the platform puzzle. In order for us to be on the same page I will quote from a book I really like, Get Known Before The Book Deal by Christina Katz. Just because we are part of the exciting Indie movement doesn’t mean we can’t appropriate ideas from traditionally published authors and their support team. Continue reading “Walking The Runway”
