In this installment I’m going attempt to formulate a to-do list of items unrelated to writing the book which I’ll need to accomplish with some preliminary thoughts, plans, and decisions. You’re Going to Write What? – Part 2

In this installment I’m going to briefly cover two areas. First, establish my starting point. Second, report on some non-writing activity I’ve done.

The Benchmark

In the introduction I indicated that I’d previously started work on this book and then stalled due to other distractions. It seems reasonable to report on from what point I’m re-starting and a bit about how I got to that point.

You’re Going to Write What? – Part 1 – The Introduction

scribbling-152216_640I could give credit for this idea to the author of one of those self-publishing how-to books that are constantly being discussed in the Minion Cafeteria. (“Is this a scam? Does it have anything new? What does an author whose bestselling book is ranked at twenty-bazillion on Amazon know about how to write a million-seller anyway?”) That would be giving that author too much credit. The Independent Book Blogger Awards

Independent Book Blogger AwardsThe Independent Book Blogger Awards highlight the amazing talent in book blogging today. They want to hear from all types of blogs, big and small. The only key qualification is that you write passionately about books! (For more details on criteria for entry, rules and background on the judging process, please see the Contest Terms).

Enter your blog in one of four categories: Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, Young Adult and Children’s, or Publishing Industry. When voting closes, the top 15 blogs in each category will become finalists. Winners will be selected from among the finalists by a panel of industry judges. Each of the four category winners will receive a pass to Book Expo America (June 5-7, 2012) with airfare and hotel accommodation in New York City.

Key dates to keep in mind:

  • Monday, April 9 (at 11:59 pm ET) – Deadline for entries
  • Tuesday, April 10 (12:01am ET) – Monday, April 23 (11:59 pm ET) – Voting (must be a member of Goodreads to vote)
