Jeremy Duncan commits to haul one last load of supplies across the great interior of the Yukon before heading home. But, he has to trade his pack animals for sled dogs and leave Skagway in the middle of a blizzard due to one strong-willed, business-minded beauty.

Determined to find her older brother, Clara Bixbee doesn’t care how she gets across the pass, as long as she does, and soon. Hiring handsome pack guide Jeremy Duncan seems to be her best choice. Especially after she saves a young girl being beaten by the local gang leader and needs to escape Skagway fast.

This book is available at Amazon, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble.

Paty, how did you come up with the title for your book? Does it have any special meaning?
Because the book is set during the Yukon Gold Rush, I wanted wording that went with that theme. Even though neither the hero nor heroine are seeking gold, she does tell him she’s laying claim to him.

Who was your favorite character and why?
That’s a toss-up. I have loved Jeremy (the hero) since he appeared in as a twelve-year-old in Marshal in Petticoats. But Clara (the heroine) had an independence and feistiness that endeared her to me. When I grow up I’d like to have half her gumption. 😉

Does your book have any underlying theme, message, or moral?
All of my books tend to have an underlying theme of justice.

What would/could a reader or reviewer say about this book that shows they “get” you as an author?
“I learned something while being entertained.”

Give us an excerpted quote from your favorite review of this book:
“I love reading about Alaska and the period of The gold Rush and this book did not disappoint. Loved every word except the last because that meant it was over !!”
