Linking Books to Author Central

The last guy who told me I was wrong.

Oh my. I wish I had a dollar for each time I told someone their book wasn’t claimed to their author central page and they replied “Yes it is.”

Guess what? NO IT’S NOT.

Just because you have an Amazon.com Author Central page and your book is showing up on it does NOT mean it’s properly linked. Honestly, I don’t sit around making this stuff up because I’m bored.

A book which is properly claimed to an author central page will have a little drop-down arrow next to the author’s name. I’ve circled it in magenta and drawn an arrow to it in the photo below.

When you hover over that drop-down arrow, a number of options will appear – one of them being the ability to click over to the author’s Amazon.com Author Central page.

See how that works? I told you I wasn’t making this stuff up. No drop-down? No way to get to your author central page from that book.

You’ll notice that all three of the incredibly talented authors above have little drop-down arrows next to their names. That’s right, you guessed it – they’ve all linked the book to their AAC pages.

Now, check out this book by C. A. Daver. You’ll notice that there is no little drop-down arrow next to his name. Care to take a guess why? Two words: not linked.

So, now that the difference between the two is clear, how do you get your books linked or claimed to your author central page? Well, here are some links you may find helpful:

  1. Another warning on author pages. Once a book is on there, you can’t remove in for any reason whatsoever. So be careful what you select.

  2. I don’t know how it happened – dumb luck or divine intervention – but mine are all linked. Thanks for the info. I never noticed that before.

  3. I followed your set up tutorial as well Kat and the link is there. ๐Ÿ™‚ At last, I do something right the first time!
