A Bit Late

K. S. Brooks on Snow ShoesOkay, so this post is a bit late. Clearly I’ve been slacking again. Here’s a list of things I’m going to try to accomplish and/or be better at this year.

#1 – I will try harder not to stab someone when they blurt out completely useless information while I’m trying to concentrate on my writing.

#2 – I’ve learned my lesson about creative license and won’t use “matters of homeland security” as an excuse not to have dental work done. I apologize to the nice men in suits who had to come all the way out to my house to, uh, interview me.

#3 – I won’t wait until October to kick it into gear this year. Books can be written in quarters one, two and three, not just Q4 in a ridiculous marathon sprint.

#4 – I’ll actually write most of my own books myself this year. I said most. Most is a relative term. Don’t get technical on me.

#5 – Since I released seven titles in 2012, I’m going to try hard to meet or beat that in 2013.

#6 – I foresee releasing new, improved color versions of some of my previously published books in order to meet the goal set in #5.

#7 – I will try to make sure to thank people all year long, instead of just at the holidays. Because, really, I’m thankful year-round for the fantastic support and camaraderie of the indie community.

#8 – I’ll learn how to use buy my books subliminal messages buy my books in my blog, Facebook, and Twitter buy my books posts since I’m not buy my books very good at self-promotion.

#9 – I will try to be better about actually replying to interview requests by answering the questions and sending them back to people instead of pretending I never received them. Oh, who am I kidding? Forget that one.

#10 – I’m going to work very, very hard this year. That’s right. Very, very hard at accomplishing as much as possible with as little work as possible. It’s all about efficiency. And delegation. Buy my books.

Happy New Year, everyone!

  1. Loved it. I think I’ll steal (buy my books) uh, appropriate your list … or at least the parts that seem to pertain to my (buy my books) writing style (particularly #8).

I commiserate with you on the homeland security thing … try searching the web for weponized “anything” (especially viruses, for me)…you make a whole lot of new government “friends.”

Seriously, thanks…been having a rough day and this made me smile.

    1. I’m not really good at that kind of measurement thing. You wanna buy a book so I can check if those tracking things work? LOL – just kidding. 😀

  2. Yep, we are all stealing your #8 :-). Seriously, when I grow up I need to strive to be like you.

I’m close by, we could be each others assistant…wait, that won’t work. Shoot. Back to the drawing board.

    Good luck, Kat

    1. Steal away! I know, right? Well, I’m too stubborn to slow down just because of that. I bought the “Home Cloning Kit” from Ronco and I’m off to the races! 😉

      1. OMG….Don’t use it, Kat. I got one of those last year and the darn clones went crazy with my credit cards….I had to go buy the Ronco Clone Removal Kit (which by the way, costs more than the clone kit)….it was a disaster. hahaha
