  1. I'm sorry, but I don't like the new look or the way you have to comment now. Wondering why you had to change everything? It was super when you got to see the comments instantly before, now we have to wait for it to be approved. I have not commented on a lot of sites specifically for that very reason. And how is that going to work for the 250 word short story competition? Seems really cumbersome now to comment and though I am commenting now, not sure how much I will in the future.

I am one who doesn't have a problem with change. If I did, I wouldn't have moved around so much in my life or change my bedroom or living room around a lot. But having to wait for your comment to be approved or moderated is time consuming, and the layout before was so much more user friendly. Just my 2 cents. 🙂 And you guys know I love you guys and what you are doing here, just saying I'm not sure I will post as often as I used to.

    1. Jacqueline, I tend to agree with you about comment approval, but I want to let you know that my comment below posted instantly, whereas previously I'd had the same problem as you. Maybe it's something to do with signing in via a WordPress account?

      1. But now David, I have to have an intensedebate account and/or a wordpress account of which I have neither. And the point is I have too damn many accounts to have to remember another login and password just to post a comment here. I don't need another account to remember, I don't want another one. The web sites that give you a great choice of which account to use to post a comment with are the ones I comment on….they offer you google account, and several others which I already had accounts to. And I definitely don't have time to learn wordpress, I have a blogger blog. It appears that if you have a wordpress account, you get your lovely face to appear with a little W underneath it. Looks like replying as a guest it why you have to have your comment approved first before it appears.

As I said, I love this site and the posts, and what people have to say; I read about 95% of them. Just don't like the changes, lol.

        1. Right. And trust me, I feel your pain. My problem was too many WordPress accounts, and it was a bit of a minefield to sign up to IntenseDebate, but once I did, everything seemed to clear up. But I do hear you.

    2. Jac,
The comment system has been a bit of a pill. I've made some additional tweaks and hope that takes care of the issue of regular commenters having to await moderation. Some upgrading was absolutely necessary. Technology marches on. I do hope you'll stick it out with us. The new template offers a lot of flexibility and capabilities the old one just did not have. Thanks for your comment. 🙂

    3. Jacqueline, I have a Blogger blog, too, but I signed up for a WordPress account so I could follow some WordPress blogs (probably in one or another of the IU blog like-fests). You don't have to have a blog on WordPress — just an account.

My problem is remembering all the bloody passwords. I've finally settled on an acronym-ish password for WordPress that approximates the phrase, "WordPress is a giant pain in the ass." I figure I'll be able to remember that one, and you're welcome to use it if you like, lol.

Anyway, you can sign in here with OpenID, which is what Google/Blogger uses. Hope that helps. 🙂

      1. Thanks everyone for your reply and encouragement. That's a good idea, Lynne. Hadn't thought of that, I'm just tired of having to remember so many logins and passwords, lol. I will try posting this comment with the Open ID and see what happens.

  2. So far so good. I have been using what comes up on the posts and think it's working – at least the comments follow-up part. A few more and I;ll be more certain.

I'm glad I'm not the one doing all this. I would be certifiable by now – well maybe I already am, but I don't know it yet so that's OK. Good luck.

  3. I had a few glitches signing up for IntenseDebate, but I think I'm okay now. I like that the colour scheme is slowly returning to that very distinctive IU look. It's moving along. The only negative, and this may well be me in a distinct minority of one, I don't like the font in the main posts. The Comments section is fine, though. Keep going, guys, it's getting there. 🙂

  4. MY replies to comments are showing up right away, but when I try to type this one in it hardly shows. It's faded almost to invisible. I don't know why. The others worked fine, but they were replies to other comments.I'll see if it takes.

  5. Looks fine now, and this one shows as I type, so it may have been a small glitch. Hmmmm.

  6. I have a wordpress account and signed in with it – one of the things I like very much about the new look – BUT, I still have to wait for administrator 'approval'. -shrug- I'm very confused. I realise the new system is at the tweaking stage so I'm not going anywhere but I agree that commenting isn't as much fun when you have to be approved each time. Must be that catholic upbringing I can't seem to shake – I always feel guilty as if I've done something to deserve a small slap on the wrist. 🙁
