What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Things are gonna start happening to me now!

As you might have heard, I recently raised the price of my book, UPGRADE, just a tad in my own price-point experiment. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the results. Let’s just say I didn’t sell as many copies as I had hoped at the new improved price. Honestly, only one Bajillionaire bought a copy. That email address in the upper right hand corner of the picture seems vaguely familiar. I wonder if this rich guy is related to Kat? Anyway, A million bucks isn’t what it used to be—especially after taxes. Continue reading “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?”

Humanity and Madness: A link

It’s mad, really, what people get up to, what complicated schemes they devise for themselves and others. Perhaps it’s because we are all born into complication that we cannot escape it, and we weave more threads into the madness of it all.

The knowledge trap is perhaps the highest form of madness there is. We cannot jump off the merry-go-round of believing we “know” stuff and can teach it to others. Or that to “know” stuff will give us a better life or a more prestigious career. Or that to “know” stuff makes us somehow better than the next guy who “knows” less. A Big Thank You

The past few weeks I’ve written some pretty heavy stuff. The long and tedious “Department of Justice Investigation” post—did anyone actually make it through that? The detailed “Categories to #1” post was a mind bender.

I’m going to ease off the pedal today and try to keep this post under 1,000 words. Actually, this post is one of the easiest I’ll ever do. I want to pause for a moment and just say … THANKS!

Seriously, so many of you have been such a big help to me. Let me start with the Indies Unlimited contributing authors. Wow, I don’t think a better collection of authors exist that help others become successful every day of the week. Man, you guys are good. I’ve learned so much in the brief two months that I’ve been a part of this. Continue reading “A Big Thank You”

Anthems for Authors – Don’t Mean Nothin’

Being an author can make for a lonely life. Other than each other, many times we have no one to encourage or praise us – or even validate our existence. So when I hear a song about the struggles of being a writer, I like it – a lot. In this case, I think Richard Marx’s song could apply to anyone in the arts.

My favorite lines from this song are: “take a good look around and you’ll find, people trying to mess with your mind.” I love the defiant attitude. It’s something, as writers, we can all use. And now, Don’t Mean Nothin’ by Richard Marx.
